August 25, Dog Days of Summer and off to the boat yard!

We’ve been home from our 5 1/2 month journey to FL and Bahamas for 6 weeks now.

Marsh view leaving the Toogoodoo Creek

It is time for a haul out for a bottom job, depth transducer replacement, Naiad stabilizers service and whatever else the boat yard finds that needs fixing!

We left the dock at 2:20 PM on a slow and rising tide spending the night out and thankfully a cold front (yes in August) came through last night cooling the dreadful heat and humidity we’ve had and so it is very nice!

This is Bella’s 1st trip out since last year and she’s happy to be on board again. But she has kind of lost her sea legs as she got a little seasick, while at anchor in the creek. What? Another reason why she didn’t make the trip to the Bahamas!

We were anchored by 4:00 in Steamboat Creek.  The wind picked up a little bit and the cloud cover remained making it very nice for an August day! It was very cool and very low humidity! What a blessing!

Bruce relaxed and read and I pulled out my paint kit to paint the view of the Dawhoo Bridge across the marsh at high tide. I was facing the afternoon sun and using a different blue so I did tune the blues a bit when we got home.

The afternoon marsh grass had a beautiful bright green glow. It won't be long before the grasses turn that beautiful gold color in the fall.

Monday Aug 26

We left the creek at 10:30 and arrived at Marine Propulsion by 11:30 tying up to the face dock and in line for the haul out. AND small world that this is, we ran into Bill and Betty Sue from Teamwork (Folly Beach) whom we met in the Bahamas. Teamwork is also on the hard for maintenance.
