Wednesday, Feb 11, Cumberland Island GA to St Augustine, FL

Anchor up at 7 AM. It was foggy and with at least 1 mile visibility so not a problem. We left on time as planned with the reality that we might have to stop and wait out the fog. The fog burned off around 9 so we were glad that we had left early.

There were a couple of horses grazing close to our anchorage so we did get to see the island horses again!

Loved seeing the beautiful white pelicans along the way!

The trip was very uneventful but Ms Bella lost her breakfast on the calm ICW! Well, we have to credit her with the fact that there was some current in a passage and we were dodging crab pots. That did it for her.

There are still several casualties along this part of the ICW that have been left from the storms of recent years.

Fog rolled in again about 1:30 in the afternoon. We could hear boats on the VHF that were offshore St Augustine saying there was 0 visibility. It was clear enough for us on the ICW though we kept hearing of trouble at the St Augustine inlet.  As we passed the inlet to enter into the marina, we could see that there was a solid wall of fog.

St Augustine lighthouse with the fog bank behind it.

Moored at #8 by 3.30.
#8 seems to be our "regular" mooring ball here.
No fog here but we could easily see the wall of sea fog hanging around. We went for a good long walk with Bella around the town and to the fort.

Great lights from the Bridge of Lions at night!

Thursday, Feb 13_______

The 3 of us went for a morning walk across the Bridge of Lions and to the Fresh Market for some local veggies and specialty meats. We later went to visit the Castillo de San Marcos which is part of the National Park Services. It is the only 17th century fort in N America. It was a great tour which we both enjoyed.

Speaking of the National Park Services... those of you that are senior citizens (over 62) if you don't have a National Park Lifetime Pass, you should get one! We got ours 5-6 years ago when it was only $10 but it is now $80 but still worth it if you travel and love to go to historical and national parks as it gets you and others (10?) with you in for free. Cumberland Island Sea Camp park is also a National Park.

Views from the fort towards the city and towards the ocean inlet.

We had a great dinner at Harry's tonight. Normally we go to Columbia's but we were ready for something different. Harry's is another old St A establishment. The fish was great!

This is the 1st night since we left Charleston that it is nice enough to sit on the aft deck (back porch) without winter wear. Yeah!

We hope to leave the marina tomorrow (Friday) and make it to Daytona but this weather front that is coming is bringing light rains but more importantly, strong winds so we will evaluate that in the morning! One more day in St A can't be that bad!
