Well, we could get used to this....
Big shout out to ABACO YACHT SERVICES for taking us in as a walk in (more like dinghy limp in) and fixing our outboard engine in just a couple of hours.
We had water in the carburetor and gunk, too! He adjusted a couple of other things and we and Jasmine are much happier and feel better about not being stranded. While we waited, we walked over to the ocean side which was very close. It was a beautiful hot day!

Later, we happily dinghied to the dock and walked into town and to Sundowners for a happy hour. It is very quiet here right now. Many places are closed totally or just early if not enough business. We seem to be in the "slow" period between Spring Break and summer. Which is great for us with less boat traffic and bad for us because some of the businesses are closed.

Looks calm, right? NOT! We barely got home (thankfully Jasmine started right up!) and then the storm came. Winds were clocked at 65 mph and lots of rain and lightening. We were bailing the dinghy out at 10 pm when the rain stopped. The VHF lit up with boats that were dragging. We were happy to have been on a secure mooring.

May 14, Tuesday

After a long morning of house duties and working on the generator a bit more (we may have it now) we went to town with a mission of getting a very small (teeny tiny) hose clamp and some vegetables to make a thai chicken dish. We were lucky and hit jack pot! In talking to the grocer, (Sid's Grocery) he tells us that many of the locals have left or died thus leaving many of the homes here abandoned, which we had noticed.

Walking back to the dinghy dock, we made a stop at Miss Emily's Blue Bee Bar. We were here 14 years ago with Ridge and Denise. That's another story. This place is famous for the Goombay Smash which is a pineapple rum drink with a special ingredient. I think it has nutmeg in it.
This is for you Ridge and Neci!

More storms are forecasted tonight so we are staying home and cooking Red Chicken Curry with some of the fresh veggies we bought in town today.
We had some distant storms but nothing on top of us like the night before, though the harbor was definitely filled with more boats seeking shelter. We had dinner on the fly bridge on our bistro table watching the (not t0) distant lightening.

Our morning face time call with Bella and Melissa. She is still not happy with us.

Green Turtle Club restaurant...
The winds were from the north and east finally so we took the dinghy out and around the corner of the island to White Sound. We had lunch at The Dollar Bar at Green Turtle Club (many burgees adorn the ceiling and signed dollar bills are on the walls) and then went across the sound to check out the beach bar at the Bluff House.

Great views from the Tranquil Turtle Beach Bar! The Sea of Abaco is quiet today with the easterly winds.
