May 31, Friday

We decided to stay anchored at Lynyard Cay and dinghy over to Little Harbor 2 miles away. The harbor is very well protected and we felt that since the winds were very calm that it might get hot and buggy there.

We spent some time exploring the area and had a long lunch with Harbor Blasters, (aka rum punch) on Friday and spent the afternoon shopping in the gallery.

NOT Pete's Pub but where we tied up Jasmine.
It is a really cool building, something to do with Pete's, I'm sure.
His foundry is behind this building.

A little Little Harbor history...
Back in the 1950s, Randolph Johnston, a well known educator and sculptor, moved his family here to "get away from it all" living in caves for a while,  creating much of what Little Harbor is today. There are 3 generations of the family that are artists and Pete and Greg (son?) are still here working as artists and fishermen and whatever it takes to run a paradise based foundry, pub with fresh seafood and harbor.

Part of the caves where the family once lived.

Pete's Pub
An open air building with picnic tables under the shade area and by the beach and great seafood, creating fine dining in the sand.  Bruce says this is a true honest to goodness "dive" and now his favorite of all.

The gallery with his bronze sculptures, jewelry and of course,
t-shirts! He has a series of bronzes inspired by the "Old Man and The Sea" that are just amazing.

The area around the pub, foundry and gallery are littered with some beautiful sculptures!

We like to buy some sort of art when we travel. Quite often it is a painting but knowing that Pete is a sculptor artist, we (Rosie) had been holding out until we got to his gallery.
We are coming home with a spotted eagle ray bronze set on some drift wood. It is small but will be a great remembrance of this trip and also to celebrate our 45 wedding anniversary.

June 1, Saturday

We stayed another day at Lynyard Cay thinking we might go across to Bight of Old Robinson to find one of the blue holes. But after reading more on it, we decided to not chance getting stuck over there by ourselves. Apparently it happens! There are other blue holes a bit north we will try to find.
We had a day of clothes washing, water making, a bit of house work and beach walking.

We went back to Pete's Pub for dinner on Saturday, late in the afternoon but early enough to cross the wide open area (from the Atlantic Ocean channel) to get back before dark.
We were back home by 7:30 with tons of light to spare.

The meals are really huge (and $$$) but once again, I brought home at least half or more for lunch the next day.
This was a combo of tuna and mahi with some traditional sides of cole slaw and peas and rice.

There is a short boardwalk from the beach pub across the island to the ocean side with another bronze showing us the way.

A different type of sunset photo, finally!

The turn around point for this trip.

Adding in the 2 miles from the anchorage to Little Harbor in our dinghy, we have traveled 761.7 miles by boat to get here. But in order to keep my odometer straight, I will have to call it 759.7 still.
