Feb 8 - 9 -10, Jekyll Island, (Days 5, 6, 7)

Day 7, Feb 10
(Most recent days are at the top of blog posts)
Another windy night at the dock. The winds actually moved the heavy teak furniture around the aft deck and blew off the freezer and chest covers that are tightly fitted, thankfully they did not fly off the boat. We had another quiet day, doing laundry and filling water tanks, walked to the Beach Village for a late lunch at the pub. The live aboard community here at the marina are a great group of folks. They invited us to join them at their Sunday get together. It was nice to meet more cruisers, hear stories and learn some tid bits.
Sunset tonight was cloudy but the gray clouds with bits of color peaking through made a great shot. Tomorrow, the winds should be lighter so we head south to our next stop, Cumberland Island.

Day 6, Feb 9
The wind blew all night and we were grateful to be tied up to a dock. The winds woke us about 2 AM but we were all tight and secure. We both got up a couple of times to check the noises outside, remove the flags etc... The rest of the day proved to be just cold and windy so it was a chore day. Rosie did house work and Bruce was in the ER all day, doing engine room (ER) work.
Checking in with Bella.
We thought about walking over to the Whiskey, Wine and Waterlife Festival at the Beach Village but it was just cold and windy so we decided to stay in. Rosie painted and Bruce read until the dinner hour and we went back to the River House for another great meal.

Day 5,  Feb 8

Nice quiet night at anchor with a beautiful sunrise.
We decided to move to the Jekyll Harbor Marina for at least 2 nights since the approaching front is supposed to bring gale force winds for Saturday and Sunday. By 10:30 AM, we were tied up and getting settled with great assistance from Jovan and getting checked in with Bill.
The winds have already picked up this morning as you can see with the flag!
We donned our walking shoes, shorts, T-shirt’s, sunscreen and backpack with water and off we went for the day. 6 1/2 miles later, 1 great lunch, a walk on the beach, a visit to some cute shops and the Jekyll Island Art Association in one of the historic cottages, 1 great treat, we were back about 4.
Lunch at the Wee Pub in the Beach Village.

We had a great dinner (fresh corvina!) at the River House then settled in for a windy night on the dock.
