Feb 16, Saturday, Day 12

Today, we decided to go for a long walk back across the bridge over to the island again. Our long walk got hijacked by a taco shop along the way where tons of people were enjoying street tacos and cold beer. Well, that stopped the "long" walk but we did get a good one still.

Bruce checking on the dinghy.

The sunset tonight was the prettiest so far though there was a wedding party on shore creating quite a ruckus and the DJ was loud!

The lights from the city are really pretty tonight also.
The fort lights are on tonight for candle light tours for a special occasion, though the city lights
are so bright, it is  hard to see the fort's softer lights.

Feb 15, Day 11

Friday and it sure is busy here. Actually, this is the busiest we have ever seen St Augustine. Lots of shops are open and plenty of tourists. We discovered that this is a 3 day weekend for many with the President Day holiday.
Summer Breeze is right behind using this photo.
Today, we needed to replenish our fresh produce supply and in my google of "groceries near me", up came Fresh Market only 1/2 mile away, across the bridge! Yeah! Off we go and were we surprised to find a better Fresh Market than the big chain! It is a small local owned market by a transplanted South African offering only the best, local and freshest organic produce, meats, and home made meals packaged to go. We had fun shopping and came home with the produce we needed and some yummies for the next couple of meals, not that we needed that as our freezer is still full but how could we pass up S African recipe meat pies, wild smoked (by them!) salmon, home made pasta from italy, home made sour dough boule.

After our walk across the bridge and putting our supplies away, back we went into the old town for lunch at the Spanish Bakery to have home made empanadas and piccadillo!
Then later, after a long hot shower at the marina, we went back to town to one of our favorites, Columbia, a great Cuban/ Spanish restaurant but not before a stop at Michael's for a great glass of wine.

Feb 14, Day 10
💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
Happy Valentines Day!
 Anchor up at 8:45 AM
We were anchored close to Atlantic Beach Bridge which was convenient but we learned later that it is not a great place as there is submerged trash that can foil our anchor. We were lucky and did not have a problem. The current was ripping though, the windlass struggled a bit even with us motoring into it. There is always a lesson to learn!

It was an easy 31 mile trip to St Augustine and we were moored by 2 PM at the same #8 mooring ball at the Municipal Marina that we were at almost exactly 2 years ago.

We cleaned up a bit to go to town (I got my new Dollar Tree vinyl dinghy purse, put on some lipstick and a bra! Wow! Boat life! Who knows what else I'll admit to in a couple of months!) It was time for a walk into town.

We had our own private dinghy guard waiting for us.

View of Bridge of Lions. We are moored close to it and downtown.

Feb 13, Day 9

Anchors (1 actually) up 9:30m.
A sleepless night because of the storm and a boat TOO close to us dragging anchor! We, (I, the one that does not take a sleep aid!) had a rough night with keeping up with bands of wind and rain and that darn boat!
Brrr ... from t-shirts yesterday to multiple layers of clothes, a 55 degrees this morning and very windy making for a fun anchors up!

We crossed the Florida Georgia Line at the St Mary's River!
("This is how we roll....")
We cruised behind Amelia Island stopping just across from Atlantic Beach. We have about a 30 mile ride to St Augustine tomorrow where we plan to stay a couple of days and visit some of our favorite restaurants and possibly some of the marine stores (still have a water pump issue and now a potty issue but we may have to limp to Ft Pierce which is doable).

Our anchorage view tonight.

But in the mean while, another great sunset on the water.
