Beaufort NC to Goose Creek, Day 18

Leaving Beaufort on Thursday morning, there are some oyster reefs where several men were harvesting. It looked strange to see these guys walking around there as it is surrounded by 2 deep water channels.

We left at 9am from our slip, easy 😁.
We are encountering many temporary markers for the channels in these waters and shoaling is a BIG problem and the channels are constantly changing.
Heading north on the Newport River, we traveled to Core Creek, then Adams Creek, then Neuse River for 20 miles to the Bay River, Gale Creek, ICW Canal, Goose Creek about 2 1/2 miles from Pamlico River.

So the Neuse River and Albermarle Sound has reputations of "can be wicked". 😰  Don't let this photo of the Neuse fool you! As we approach it early afternoon, it looks nice and mostly calm, a few little white caps.
I had not painted yet on this trip, so I decide it's time to pull the stuff out. I get set up and get some oil paint on my brush  and then we enter the river.
The painting gear got quickly put away.
As we go up the 20 miles, the ENE winds were 14-15 and gusting and the waves got bigger. The waves started as 1-2 feet and Captain Bruce declared them as 3-4s at the end of the trek. I, Rosie WAS doing ok to start but decided to try my new sea jewelry.
It's a wearable device, looks like fitbit and it sends electrical charges to your nerve center that shuts off the upset stomach issues. Have to admit that it did take the edge off! I started at level 2 but bumped it to level 4 when it got a bit rolly. The seas were not terribly bad but for those of us that get sea sick, well...  As for Bella, she did not fare well at all. We had a sick puppy on deck for a couple of hours. 😷

Later we discovered that one of the cabinet doors literally flew off stripping the hinges off. No dishes came out! It was an easy repair for the handyman.

We anchored at 4:30 in Snode Creek (Active Captain suggestion) entrance in Goose Creek. This was about 1 1/2 miles from the entrance of Pamlico River. Another wide long river for tomorrow. We are thinking that if we take it early in the day, the winds will be less and we will all fare better. We only have a 5 mile crossing to make on this one.

We had not seen any tugs or barges the whole trip and this afternoon, 2 passed us by. Captain Bryan does this type of trip a lot.
After anchoring and getting settled, I pulled out my paints and finished a quick little landscape. I'm hoping for some good paint time tomorrow.

Enjoying the sunset after a great grouper and salad dinner on the flybridge.
Bella feels better now and getting some love💕
