Southport NC to Wrightsville Beach, NC, Days 7-14

Our Defever burgee flying at sunset on our last night at South Harbor Village Marina
Southport Harbor Village Marina, our homeport for the week. This is a small but full service marina with a mix of transients with the very friendly locals, many of which are live-a-boards. The weather cooperated with us during our stay here as the rains from TS Alberto made their way up to us. We had a full week here with chores and are finally ready to be on the move again. We took advantage of the full rain day to spend time planning and charting the rest of our trip with Waterway Guide for the ICW and Skipper Bob's Anchorages Along the ICW together with our chart plotter, Navionics Time Zero and Active Captain. The rest of the time was spent doing laundry, restocking fresh produce, filling water tanks, recaulking windows after the storm, oiling the teak walls, washing the sunscreens for the windows and refueling before our departure.

Lauren, Bruce and Bella
Bruce had a dr appointment back in Charleston so on Wednesday we rented a car and made the trip back, stopping for some restocking at Total Wine and for a hair cut with our favorite gal, Lauren Bieri!  LB Salon Studio at Cirque Salon Studio on Exchange St.

Josephs Restaurant is 4 boats down from us.
One of the pluses of this marina is the onsite restaurant, actually 2 of them that are excellent! Josephs was superb, twice! Roger and Kathy Tatum live close by so they joined us for dinner one evening. The Tatums used to own a Defever 44 very similar to ours, Maya. They have enjoyed what we are experiencing now with cruising. Roger is also an artist and used to be part of the Studio 151 Fine Art Gallery in Charleston with me.

Entering into the Carolina Beach area
Carolina Beach's version of Botany Bay Beach! Wrightsville had their version as well at that inlet.
Entering Wrightsville Beach area.
Tons of boat traffic here, looks like Miami! It did quiet down at night to be perfect but it was crazy on a Sunday afternoon!

Anchored in Banks Channel behind Wrightsville Beach
We went for a dinghy ride at Wrightsville and planned on going for a beach walk but no dogs aloud on the beach there during the summer months! Woof!!!!!

Our anchorage for the night
