Norfolk, VA to the York River, Chesapeake Bay, Days 23 and 24

Tuesday, June 12 (Day 23 of Summer Breeze summer cruise) was spent in the Portsmouth/Norfolk harbor. It was an off/on drizzly day, cooler and water conditions in the bay were not great. So we go to shore and visit Olde Town Portsmouth. It is a lovely town with historic homes and buildings and plenty of restaurants to choose from. We took Bella for a good walk and had lunch at the German Bier Garden.
Lots of blooms around the old historic homes.

One of my orchids on the boat is still blooming and Gamblin, my air plant seems to be happy.

Wednesday, June 13 (Day 24)
Left Norfolk about 9:30 am. It was overcast but with promises of a warmer day, no rain and calmer seas.

The sea forecast called for 1-2' seas and low winds but we know how Bella does even with that so she was treated to another drug laced bite of peanut butter. I charged my band but didn’t use it.
Bella: "peanut butter makes me feel so good!"

On the way out of the channel, we passed many ships like these...

We heard the Securitie calls announcing the departure of a warship, so we kept a lookout, mostly because you have to stay out of their way but we wanted to see it. And it passed us just as we turned out of the channel and into the bay!

Made it to Chesapeake Bay. 1-2 ft seas getting slightly choppy by noon. Nice otherwise.

Anchored in Sarah Creek off the York River not far from Yorktown. We considered taking the dinghy to the restaurant at the marina or over to Yorktown but we were content staying on board with this great view and enjoyed our second meal (leftovers) from the Guy Fieri Smokehouse in Norfolk from 2 days ago.

Mile Marker:  no mile markers per say here as we are ducking in and out of bays and tributaries.
Miles traveled today:  45
Total: 580
Going with our trip odometer now instead of mile markers which includes the circles for storms we had made.
